Have 7 boats 22' to 14'), 8 kayaks, 7 VW's (3 are Westy campers), 6 Kids, 2 grandsons, 1 wife!!!! :smt008 25 years on the 30th. Live in Wiemar surrounded by lakes and rivers. The whole family likes to yak and the Beagle loves it too!!! Need car info I've got it (Even the new electronic stuff!) So with all that, I guess you could call me a lucky guy. I play with cars all day, then go fishing on the way home. See the wife and kids and get fed great food! Then wake up and do it again the next day...  :smt006
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Didn't see this thread until today!  At any rate, I'm a Software Engineering Manager working for Motorola.  I help architect and design back-end systems meant to scale to hundreds of millions of users.   I have working as a software developer for over 15 years now.

Software product and technical marketing (degree in electrical engineering with MBA in finance, designed hardware and software before going to the "Dark Side").
Always searching a for way to own my own business or make a living in a way that is more compatible with our family's outdoor lifestyle and activities.
Nothing beats kayaking fishing for me though I am constantly trying to find a way to fly fish more efficiently/effectively because of wind effects (fishing midges requires anchoring).

Relatively new to the site, but employed with the CHP.  I'm one of the guys who drives the pick-up trucks and picks on truckers.  Redwood City is the area I work so if you see me sitting at 92 and Crystal Springs Reservoir, stop by and say high.

Life Long paddle sports ambassador. I've worked in the industry for the past 5 years mostly as a retail manager and sea kayak instructor guide. Last fall when the last store I worked at closed my wife and I decided to go all in a open a little hole in the wall kayak store/ outfitters in Lodi, and over the past 6 months we have grown to a full service retail shop that specializes in Touring kayaks, Fishing kayaks and rec kayaks. We strive to offer the best personal service possible so become people "go to guys" in the paddle sports industry. We also believe in trying before you buy so we have tons of rentals, and opportunities to get out on the water and try kayaks. I'm 26 years old and living my dream!  :smt003

I am in Tracy (moved in March) so it's great I have a local (well as close as local gets in the NW Central Valley—it's 20 miles and 20 minutes to the closest cities from Tracy) shop to patronize. Whenever I can, I fish globally but shop locally. Thanks for introducing yourself.

I retired from grocery industry (32yrs) and try to kayak, camp, hike, dive, bicycle, garden, ride dirt bikes, adventure bikes and tour as often as weather permits. So I am living the dream I always wanted and love it. Sounds a little selfish but I want to get as much out of this life as I can while I'm still above the lawn. :smt001 :smt001 :smt001 :smt006
Bottom line is... pm me if you wanna go play somewhere, stay active and enjoy this life!

Live in Citrus Heights. Freelance graphic artist and art new media (motion, film editing, flash web, phone apps) for just over 10 years. Moved from Boston to Sac about 13 years ago with 2 college buddies for the Sierras. Me and my wife Kara have been together for over 10 years and we have a 11 month old son, Branson. Always been outdoors minded, met my wife on a whitewater trip on the AR, she was our guide. We both guide now mostly private.

I am putting together some of the best in the industry as in design, motion and media relations. Plan on opening up Free Motion Media with the next year. I love to fish especially from my yak. Good things....

My job in life now is to make everyday a day to be remembered for my wife and I. I am a retired Deputy Sheriff (30 yrs service) here in Santa Clara County.I have been retired for 10 years now.The wife and I are going to be celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary this July.We have many children, grand children and 2 great grand children(1 of them is on the way).I am also a retired US Army Reserve Officer 28+yrs service. My Dad introduced me to fishing many years ago but this was always with PBs. I saw this Kayak thing and immediately fell in LOVE. I am an older person but I do want to keep in-shape and have a good time(catching fish also will help).I am a member of SIRS(Sons In Retirement) and I do the Golf Chair.Hope to see all of you OTW. This is where my acronym knowledge stops. I have alot to learn here.

Congratulations on the upcoming 25th anniversary. That sounds like an ideal occupation and I hope that I'm fortunate enough to be in the same situation when it's time to step away from the rat race.

As for me, I'm a sr. software developer who is always checking the weather report.  :smt003

ChuckMc, I really enjoyed your description, sincere and inspirational.  I didn't know what SIRS was, looked it up just now.  I'm nowhere near retirement (unless Lotto comes through :smt044) but hope to be a SIR some day, seems like an interesting and worthwhile organization.  See you on OTW.
