Hey Dave
I would recomend getting an elastic quick release lanyard on that gauge. You want free dive gear to be streamlined and able to remove in a pinch. Imagine trying to undo that velcro, with a neopreme glove, in current, at the end of you dive. It would be better to slip out of and live to buy another $10 gauge. Just my 2 cents.

It's made to pull off - it's a surf leash.  You didn't notice the rather large red tag on the underside......pull and go.  Surfers know how to deal with being in tough spots.  I've pulled off my leash (on my leg) when I couldn't see a thing...in the surf.  I've been a free-diver for an embarrassingly long time.  This is the best set-up I've ever used.
