I'll have some laminated maps available - maybe 1 per team - with the marine topography around Point Delgada.  Based on what conditions we get I will write on them to show what to be careful of.  The reef all around the point from the launch to in front of the hotels is potentially deadly on many days that are fishable in more open water to the south and then east-west on a line between the buoys but slightly north.

It's very important that no one assume they can fish or even travel through areas in close around the reef.  I've seen some hairball situations develop out there.  When Al came back around that corner (where he capsized) it was a CALM day.  I'd say I would only venture into that area about 10% of the time or less, based on my experience at the Cove.  More on that Friday evening at the ramp for check-in and a safety seminar.   :smt001

Eric,   That's great information and even greater news that you will have current cautionary info.  Having never been on the water in that area, it's great to know that some of the risk can be mitigated by having the right information available.  Thanks again for all of your hard work organizing and putting on the event.

Hey Black Ab, you forgot to make all your secret spots on that map!  :smt003

Emailed off the waver!  I also finshed up some knockers I will post up soon.  I can't wait!

BanjoTad and I will be "Team Killer Ocean Kayakers", or "Team KOK" for short  :smt005  We considered the Backlash Boys, but didn't want to be mistaken for a boy band, although Tad does have some groupies.

I have to look up the salmon regs, is it barbless only and no barbed hooks on the boat?  They change it all so much, it is hard to keep track.  I would hate to go after salmon and have to paddle back in and back out to go after Rock Fish.  I am going to go get some little planer boards and some anchovies and hootchies.  I would love to catch a big old Salmon!

I'm thinking maybe 150-200 at the potluck!

Bring a dish that serves 10 or more and you're good, but make a plan other than bringing just raw meat - you have to cook it to qualify for scarfing others' potluck offerings!  I will have a BBQ there and will supply briquets.  Fresh fillets would be easy to cook up with just some garlic and spices - feeding hot bites to passers-by...   :smt007

I was out of the cove most of today, took this photo of the "Tides Inn" this afternoon.  As you can see it was a bit windy but the good news is look at the gulls - they were diving all around and feasting on bait. I checked the cleaning station and didn't see any evidence of success.  Guess the fish may be safe till GS4.    See yall
