Because the board seemed slow the last couple of days, and I was bored, I decided to start this thread.  Think of a famous person (could be alive or dead) who you think would of made a great NCKAer.  Please after you nominate your famous person give a justification as to why. I can't wait to see who  gets nominated and for why.

My nominations: Ed Zern famous writer for Outdoor Life (or was it F&S, been awhile).  He always had a comical story at the end of every issue.  I could seem him and his fishing partner getting rolled in the surf with a huge yard sale.

Second Nomination: None other than Papa himself Ernest Hemingway.  I could see him giving Blue Water Jon a run for his money, and what a story he would have wrote had he been on the Alaska Salmon Shark expedition.

Lastly I would throw Ben Franklin in there, I haven't found anything that references he actually liked to fish, but I think he would of come up with a kite flying rig from a yak, with a home made propulsion rig that would give Hobbie a shock.

Countryman!

dude could free dive for lobster without mask or fins,

get girls to take their shirts off to "rescue" them from antagonistic crocodiles,

cook one mean jungle buffet with fish, fruit, lobster and limes,

plus he could roll a mean spliff.

the perfect NCKA'er! :smt044

Good call on BF...  my favorite Founding Father.  I would love to check out Ben Fraklin's pimped-out kayak.  haha...

Steve McQueen would have been a good NCKA'er, too.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi). He was always hangin around the water or going fishing while Daniel-San was waxin on  waxin off.  Instead of a row boat Ralph Machio could be practicing balance in a tandem or a Hobie Pro Angler  :smt001   Splash -  :smt005 Daniel- San you scare da feesh.  :smt003

Pat Morita was old school J.A. Nuff said when it come to fishing

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.

former Prez Carter.  He fly fishes already and I could see him kickin back loving the eco friendly mode of the yak.  He sold the presidential yacht, I am sure we could have convinced him to replace it with a trident.  Finally as a "beans and jeans" guy I think he would appreciate a "fish and chill."  Plus we could all score unlimited peanuts  :smt004

Howell Raines and my Dad. My Dad sailed all the way to Cabo in 1962 then through a huge storm to Mazatlan. They almost capsized. Howell Raines fought a marlin from a small skiff for over 7 hours on a fly rod before it broke the 20# leader. On Christmas Island.

Some interesting ones so far.  I would love to see the Steve McQueen "Bullet" Kayak.  It would be the only one that you could sail down Lombard Street and hit the water and not even mess up your hair!
