The hill is a little steep for a kayak launch.  Coming out would be Elk X 3.

Bummer.

Are you still planning on being there Friday Doug?  Scott and I are going to hook up if you want to join us.

Hey Ben, what if we have a sort of lure swap?  Everybody could bring a new, unused favorite lure and we could throw them in the raffle - something in the $5-10 range.  People drawn first would only be allowed to choose one item (since they are getting to select from a larger variety) and people towards the end get to choose 2 lures.  Just though that way you don't have provide everything.

If I go, I'll probably cruise up Friday after work and campout. Because....I'm not good at getting up early and driving for hours...to fish from a 14-foot piece of plastic...for trout...in the foothills hahaha...

Patrick, we'd love to have you - campsite #107.  We'll have enough food for you for dinner.  The best I can tell, it is the last loop on the left before you reach the launch ramp.

For sure Scott.  I'll be up there with my buddy and boss.  We'll give you a shout.  I realize it is still early, but any idea where you think you might head?  Carson Cove, the spillway, Angels Creek, etc?

Michael

Michael -

On Friday I will be fishing Angels Creek for crappie.

I'd thought about Angels Creek but for trout.  When the time draws near, I'll let you know what we decide to do.

On a different note, weather.com has the lake receiving showers from Monday the 1st through Monday the 8th.  Should be interesting.  Hopefully it clears up for us although I won't hold my breath. :smt001

Michael,

I am still planning to be there on Friday.  I was there the last couple of weekends.  Lake is up about 6 ft with tributary waterfalls active.  I have seen Browns in the 5# class come into the launch ramp both times I left recently.  Check out the Glory Hole Sports Fishing Report and Newsletter.  Some interesting info re: the trout.  ghs@goldrush.com.

The Angels ramp is closed and I think the road to the ramp is also closed.  Do you know of kayak access to Angeles?

We'll have radios and give you a shout when we hit the water.

That is cool.  Look forward to seeing it.  Wonder if any fish are congregating looking for food?

:smt007  :smt007   That is the best news yet.  Did you toss anything at them or just admire their beauty?  I've got a couple tricks up my sleeve.  :smt004

Check out the Glory Hole Sports Fishing Report and Newsletter.  Some interesting info re: the trout.  ghs@goldrush.com.

Yeah, I just received the email yesterday.  What specific thing were you referring to as being interesting?  Is it that they are claiming to have planted Eagle Lake strain trout?  I've seen some pictures of nicer looking fish so I guess it's possible.  What she didn't make clear and what I was wondering is how long they have been receiving these fish and where they coming from.  Are these the fish coming from the San Joaquin hatchery?  It was my understanding that these "nicer" fish were being planted from Project Kokanee/California Inland Fisheries Foundation Inc. but I couldn't find any information on their site that proved this.

The Angels ramp is closed and I think the road to the ramp is also closed.  Do you know of kayak access to Angeles?

I figured that Angels ramp was closed and just though I'd travel all the way down Angels Creek Access Rd. but if that too is closed, then I don't know of kayak access other than putting in at Glory Hole and making the trek but that isn't something I'm interested in doing.  It would be a fairly long haul.

So, Doug, if indeed Angels Creek Access Rd. is closed, then I guess I'll stick to launching at Glory Hole.  Although, I'm holding out hope that you overstated the degree of difficulty of launching near my campsite :smt002  because that would be by far the most convenient.

Michael,

Like the hill at Elk, getting down is no problem.  I will contact BLM tomorrow and get an answer on Angels Creek access.

trout species only for the first prize. If you are somehow able to find a trout species other than those I would be completely surprised.  Anyone who comes can target whatever fish they want but if its not a trout you won't be eligible for the first place braggin rights!
