Jed and I never kayak fish at Clear lake before and we decided to give it a try (actually Jed dragged me along for companion  :smt003).  We left the house around 6am and followed Jed's Google direction printout to the lake.  We took a "long" cut  :smt003 (read lost) and got to I think Soda Bay around 10am (thanks to the lady on a road side for direction)!  Picked-up 3 dozen of X-large Minnows and stopped by Jack in the box for breakfast we're now looking for a place to get the boat inspection permits.  Jed called the number listed on one of the signs by the boat ramp and was given directions to get there.  After an hour or so trying to find the place we found out that they're on the other side of the lake! We asked around and found a place that open and got our stickers there.  We tried to do the right thing but was disappointed when noticed that they didn't even go out and look at out kayaks (just took the applications and money and gave us the stickers)!  :smt009  Anyway we finally got OTW around noon and pedalled out to deeper water.  Within half-an-hour, Jed hooked and landed a 17.5" LMB so it look like we're going to have a great time catching fish but...the wind started to kick up and the lake turned into an ocean like with 3' wind waves and the sky got dark soon after that.  We moved back a little closer to shore and the rain was starting to pour but we kept on fishing...
Not a single bite after the bad weather started so we called it a day and got off the water around 6pm.  Jed promised to get a GPS next time when we return to this lake for another adventure.  :smt002  Below are some pictures of the day...

Too bad about the weather that turned off the bite, but it looks like it was great while Jed caught the fish! Thanks for sharingthe report and the pics and better luck next time.

I had the same experience with the stickers when I went camping there last summer - they "inspected" my boat at the ranger station, even though it was back at the campsite!

Nice job on the bass.  It had a good gut too.

Sorry about the delay but you gotta keep doing the right thing.  Get the "inspection".  The fine is steep from what I hear.
