My second stone in 6 months, by far my worse one yet. got to the ER Saturday morning at 7:09 am in triage by 7:12 am. and in a bed and IV started in the next 5 minutes. Was vomiting because of pain , but then got the Toradol on board and things went much smoother. Still have not passed the stone!!! Nights are the worst 2 Vicodin and 3 to 4 hours of sleep.Between Vicodin, ibuprofen and heating pad pain is much more manageable.  I have been reading on the internet and blame consumption of to may sodas for my excessive kidney stones , 1 about every 18 months. I am hoping with a few changes in diet to be gout and kidney stone free!!!!!!!!!!  Also Hats off the the crew at the Oakdale Hospital ER!!!!!!!

I used to work with a woman who was addicted to Coke.... she never had less than 4 cases stacked under her desk.  She would drink a six pack before noon.

It seemed that every few months she had issues with stones but regardless of the pain she would go through she refused to stop drinking the cokes.

I don't know if the sodas are really at fault but I do know I would have drastically cut back after the first stone.

I hope your pain is relieved soon.

Badog, better add red meat, organ meats, some citrus fruits to the Do Not list. You can still have your sodas, but your pure water intake needs to increase tremendously to keep flushing out those not-yet visible stones. I know. I've been there. Amazing how the stones always manage to exit with the jagged edges first.

Baddog, I feel for ya!  Been there, done that, recently.  Fortunately for me there was no hospital visit involved, It was close though, I woke my wife, and shortly after that my pain peaked, then subsided.
Was at the doctors office next morning, and she wasn't able to do much.  At work, few days later while "taking care of business", I was able to see a stone pass!
Now, I'm drinking much more water, (Keeps wife from nagging me) my soda intake is way (WAY) down from what it was, a year ago.
That's a pain I can live with out for the rest of life thank you!

Oh man, I feel for you. I deal with them pretty regularly and I don't drink any soda to speak of.

The ER didn't suggest having it blasted? (I forget the medical term) My last one was reduced to sand. It's not pleasant, but orders of magnitude less painful than what you're experiencing now.

I feel for ya, and hope you dont get anymore of them.  I believe the pain level is very severe, I had a budy that had one, and it was not that big, and he was a tough old boy and crying like a girl.  Glad it is over.
