That place is loaded with fish, just a barely feelable bite, and they seem kind of tame, like they know what its like to be caught and released, like pet fish almost.
Terry tells me there are some 20 plus pounders in there, they just wont bite. My pic for AOTY is not going to be a good one, but we triple checked it at 19.5.
This first pic Im holding the first fish of the day when the the next one took my other bait, 2nd pic right after,, yes it was cold, yes those minnows had some touring miles, yes on the Bass-breath, Tongue? Ill never tell...  :smt003

"That place is loaded with fish, just a barely feelable bite, and they seem kind of tame, like they know what its like to be caught and released, like pet fish almost." They're just freezing is all. Being cold blooded the water regulates their motabolism. They don't have a choice in the matter. The best they can do is move to warmer waters. That's whey they heard up this time of year. Often times 1 degree makes all the difference. Also slows down their need for nutrition. Maybe eat once a week, is all they need, and they aren't going to chase it down. That's why a slow defenceless minnow in their face can't be passed up... :smt001

They are rooting around for food thats for sure. The lips were all red from grubbing when we were there. Plus these fish are fat, fat , fat. Chowing down anything for the long haul. The 21.5 I caught last week was fiesty and slammed the minnow. Taking drag 3 times. Awesome battle with a tailwalk at the end of the fight.. Someone told me about the old Aurora Boat lub pilings in Nice as being a great spot for some fall action with minnows. There was a 13 pound fish caught there by a friend from Ukiah.
