This is the last Anglers Afloat meet of the year and it is held in . This year there was a raffle and fishing competition in aid of Help for Heroes a worthy cause that helps servicemen and women , wounded serving in Afghanistan .
As per usual I have just copied and pasted pretty much what I posted on the AA site , so some of the terminology may be a bit wierd .  :smt005
ps I was under the impression that there was to be a silliest hat comp.  :occasion18:

To start at the beginning . Mike got to my house nice and prompt at 0600 , we had a quick cup of tea , loaded up my yak and tackle and set off for Dorset . 10 minutes later , half way down bluebell hill , my yak slid off the roof rack and was dangling down the side of the car SH!T !! :o We pulled over and lashed it back on using a more secure method . After the drama of a near total disaster the journey was quick and uneventful and we arrived at casterways tackle shop at 1030 . We took half the bait we had ordered and said we would return before closing time for the rest .
We got to the car park where the meet was being held . We were , I believe the first to arrive .

We got some advise from a taxi driver in the car park " theres a bay in the reeds , on the left , about the size of this car park , you will catch flounder one after the other " Armed with this failsafe tip , we headed off in search of the mystical bay paved with plump flounder . We gave up looking for the bay and fished another likely looking spot . The weather was spot on , but all we could catch were crabs .

So I suggested we move over to the low reedy islands on the other shore . The water was a little deeper here and after a while mike caught a flounder ;D ;D ;D

It started drizzling but I didn't mind because I caught a flounder as well ;D ;D , plus a few school bass .
Lureman and seagypsy came out to see us . Mike headed back to pick up the bait before the shop shut , but I stayed on . Steve [ lureman ] had a flounder ;D and as it got dark Mark and Simon came out for a paddle . We all headed back to the car park and after loading up arranged to meet in the Foundry Arms later . Mike and myself booked into the pub and showered and changed . We bumped into Jim who was also booked in and went down for a beer and slap up meal . The food was not bad and as we finished eating Ken turned up , shortly followed by Mark and Simon . The end we were drinking at soon filled up with yakers from far and wide and we all shouted at each other over the sound of the disco ::) . The volume of the disco was only matched by the crappyness of the music he played ??? But we strove to ignore it and had a good time anyway .
6115 we were up and set off looking for a mcdonalds .........we couldn't find the burger joint so we headed for the car park . It was just getting light as we set off for the area we had had success at the day before .

We stayed out until lunch time , before heading back to the car park to play on the kayaks , have a burger and catch up with friends . :) I had managed 2 flounders and a few small bass .

Back at the car park Snapper decided to try launching off the end of the pier , it went to plan , much to the disappointment of the audience , :( so he was implored to do it again .....this time the result was far more satisfactory ;D

Richi had brought his sail rigged scupper pro and overun decided to have a go .

Success ! and by the grin on James face it looked fun ;D So I had a go and he was right it was fun ;D

By now the BBQ was warmed up and it was time for food .

Then it was time for the raffle , tickets had been bought and an impressive array of prizes were lined up on the table . 8-) ;D But first the trophy was presented to Donk for winning the flounder comp ;D

So that was the end of the meet for Mike and myself . It was great , the weather was not as bad as it could have been , fish were caught , friendships made , brilliant ;D Roll on next year .
