I saw a pro angler and now I need one.  Since my main obsession is bass fishing, I am wondering how much of a hassle it will be when I inevitably run the mirage drive into some low tide grass in the delta.  Will I have to get under the boat to clear the drive of grass with my hands?  Secondly, does anyone know where I can demo one?

No you don't have to get under the yak to clear the grass, just pull the drive up then clean off the grass.  I don't know the answer to the second question about where to demo a Pro-angle yak.

I bought my PA without doing a demo as I could not find one to try out.  I could not be happier with it.  stable, set up for fishing right out of the box!  when the water level was high at Silver Lake I ran through grass to beach the yak, did not affect the drive at all but I don't know how that grass compared to the delta grass.

Thanks, Sailfish,  my mind is at ease as far as the grass goes.

Atavus, what saddles do you use to transport your p.a?  When I went to california kayak to check it out I notices it had big dents, from its own weight, where it sat on the rack.  They said that their saddles were not right, but still, it makes me wonder how much of a dent I might cause when I strap it down (adding even more downward force to the hull), to the Yakima racks on my Yaris.
By the way, Wind Toys in Santa Rosa said they have a demo, and I hope to try it out tomorrow.  This time I am bringing my credit card!

You might try a boat trailer. :smt044

In all seriousness, I haven't see a pic of the PA in awhile, but what about transporting upside down?  It's what I do for my Adventure and Outback.

Michael,
I think that because of the w shaped hull on the p.a. it is actually better off right side up.

Atavuss, Thanks, I'll check those out.

I am picking it up on Tuesday on my way to Clearlake, And I will only have round pads on my crossbars for that trip. I will be keeping a close eye on it.

Dale, I'll post a picture of it when I get back if it doesn't fall off roof during transport. If it does fall, I guess I will post a picture of my bare roof in the "This happened to me" section of the forum.
And by the way, the pro angler saddles won't even fit a roof rack, they are made to fit on a $2200.00 trailer. No joke.

you can demo the pro angler at lake del valle in Livermore....  I dont know if they are still running demos in the winter though.  Give sunrise mountain sports a call in livermore they run the boat demo op at the lake. And i know they let you rent the pro angler if you wanna try it out somewhere else.

I'm pretty sure that California Canoe and Kayak and Wind Toys both demo them.

The PA's hand rails won't let you transport it upside down on roof racks.

While it is a big mug plenty of people have been roof topping this yak w/o much problem.

I've demo'd this yak a bunch of times this year and I'm continually surprised how well it handles in all kinds of conditions. W/ the standard turbo fins it pedals really well. Somewhere in between an Outback and a Revolution. I've been so impressed with it I'm putting one in my quiver next year.
