Huh? I changed the title of this post. I hope all have a great Thanksgiving day. I appreciate all who were here before me and those who come after.I think that we can all come together to adopt a general consensus about our direct  stance on our fishing rights.

I agree with Mr.Bill - it's all laid out in the open there, lets not prolong the drama.

Like most, I wish Sean stayed and worked things out in a different way.  Sometimes stepping away is the best decision... sometimes not.  Only time will tell.   :smt009

In my view the stepping away is not the issue...It's how you do it

In my eyes Sean had a point. A real point. We should become more than just some kayak anglers who get bombed and fish. A real board that directs us on how to perform as  united front for what we believe in. The disinterest among people here and elsewhere about the MLPA process was Seans bitch and has been for sometime. Yet some people would say hey get off the soapbox. Im not interested. He was and is a dedicated family person, responsible fisherman and a voice in the storm of our rights being taken away. We should be voting on where this is going and what we are doing. I have only been a member here for a little over 2 years.  It seems to me that we have a voice. Is it going to be quiet and aloof, or passionate and dedicated to preserving our rights?

Ravensblack, lets let everything calm down, have a nice turkey-day and talk about it this weekend. I promise we will have that conversation.

Thanks for the leadership Bill. I guess NCKA is at a bit of a crossroads and in some people eyes suffering from an identity crisis. Happy T day to you (and all) as well

I can understand Sean's frustration...so many guys show up to hot striper bites, fishing tourneys at Albion, Elk, Shelter Cove, etc, but relatively few showed to the NCC MLPA meetings. As much energy as I feel I put into the process, guys like Sean live and breath the MLPA bullshit every day, and lack of support from peers doesn't boost confidence.

+1 High time for a united front. North Coast is now. SF Bay is coming soon. A few years after that this will all begin again. The fake enviros will always be marching towards their goal and the new batch of politicians will always need a new story on how they "saved the environment" on their resume or for their legacy.

Happy Thanksgiving Bill. I look forward to participating in "that conversation".

Man, I hope you're wrong, but you might be right. I keep reminding myself that "there will be plenty of places left to fish after this is all done," but it may never be done. It makes me sad just to think about the future of fishing...

As much as I hate to read the argument's between friends over political issues, I must agree that when it comes to issues of our fishing future we need to unite and flex the muscle of unity created by NCKA.

Bill,
I look forward to this discussion and encourage even the newest members to take part.
It is time to stick up for what is wright - and do it in an organized way.

For now let's all give an extra thanks for the areas we still have to enjoy and the great friendships created in these areas.

Happy Thanksgiving

All those organizations paying for, guiding, and fighting for max closures now are not getting 100% of what they could get through the current MLPA "processing". Organizations like the OC and the NRDC are not going to fold up and go away after this round. With their "victories" bought from the MLPA they will bring in more money and more support and continue to lobby until either the current MLPA is expanded or a new law is written to supplant it and dwarf it.

I wish the 'good time charlie's' could see that we can "do our best" at both "friendship, fishing, and food" and also advocate to keep some spots open to continue to fish.

I love to kayakfish, get bombed/drink a bunch of beer, and pig out on food as much as the next guy.....but if that's all NCKA'S gonna do then Admin should just remove the Politics of Fishing forum and let not one 'good time charlie' shed a tear when they lose their favorite spot. jim

Enjoy it with family & friends and let's let Bill initiate any more on this after the holiday.
