correct.  i never dreamed that shimano would actually come up with a wider side plate and longer drive shaft.  and it still does not address the basic problem of the dartanium drag washers.  as for the ht's that i had available, they never did quite fit right.  if i had access to sheets of this material, i could cut my own drag washers.  i would rather just buy them from smoothdrag.com.

Alantani I have a ?

When you showed your drag up grade you didn't mention replacing the drive plate, and when I called Smoothdrag.com they strongly suggested I get it so I did.

when it shows up it doesn't hardly look any differint than the originail and it cost $15.00 was this drive plate unnecessary or what.

i'm guessing that you have the after market drive plate from cal's.  if that's the case, then i know the answer....

the dartaniums were not performing.  in an effort to get them to work better, the guys at cal's custom 2 speeds made a better quality plate.  it does work.  but you're still stuck with dartanium drag washers.  the improvement is modest at best.  but at the time, it was better than nothing.

here's my opinion.  carbontex drag washers have changed things completely.  none of these upgrades, not the custom drive plate from cal's, not the new side plate and accessories from shimano, none of these, are needed now that carbontex is available.

please try the carbontex with cal's grease or shimano grease and let us know what you think.
