While searching around the NET looking for a replacement eye for my Temple Forks Outfitters 9 wt.  I saw something amazing!  It turns out that Temple Forks Outfitters has come up with a "Project Healing Waters" series fly rod          http://templeforkflyrods.com/products/rods/healingwaters.html

In case you dont know Project Healing Waters (http://www.projecthealingwaters.org/) is an organization very similar to H.O.W. in that we both understand the therapeutic benefit fishing has on troubled minds and bodies returning from war.  One difference however is that their main emphasis is on fly fishing.

What I would like to get is a general consensus on what brand, size, style of rod to target with my proposal for a "Heroes On the Water" series rod.

I am thinking G-loomis would be a good brand to start with since they are currently teamed up with TFO on some other projects...

Suggestions welcome :smt001

Brian

While G-Loomis is an excellent brand,  I would suggest the light to medium action Ugly sticks as they are well made and suit for most fresh/salt water fishing (and easier on the pocket too  :smt003).

I agree that you can't beat a Loomis.
However they don't seem to work well with others and are rather pricey
I have sold their rods since the early 80's and have never been able to persuade them to help with any promos or benefits.
Try Cortland rods - they make a great product and are usually willing to work well with others. Besides that is their main product - Fly Fishing

Yeah I agree.  The ideal H.O.W. series rod should be a well made bass or sturdy trout rod ( or both?) I feel strongly that it should be an easily recognizable American corporation.
"ugly-stick" is a great suggestion.
