I left mine in overnight off of one of the SF beaches and was rewarded with multiple limits of super jumbo for the second day in a row last weekend. Actually in 3 days my (fri, sun, mon) my traps yielded 100 jumbos(10 limits) threw back that many again which were all very legal.

Which part of SF beaches, I was actually planning doing that at Fort Point, is it legal to go crabbing there? better yet is there any crab, I dont want it inside the bay I think its too dirty right off the mouth might be cleaner since its in and out water, whats your 2 cents fellas..

I suppose you could use cotton string (like what you cook with) to keep them closed. I assume the issue was with the trap not 'opening' up if lost. The sting would rot away vs the zip tie. I know they use string on other pots so the escape rings fall away of lost.

darius, i'm pretty sure he means a SF beach that's not fort point, since dungies can't be kept in the bay.  yes, I have a very good guess but I won't mention it.

gonna be a surf launch this week with the 8-10 foot swells though.

Let me clarify: All SF beaches outside the Golden Gate, as Dungies may not be kept inside the Bay. Im not trying to be coy here. I mean what I say. All SF beaches. Find a safe launch and bada boom bada bing..
