the pics of the after math, the cooking, was great! Those were the best looking crab cakes ever!!! I've never crabbed off my yak, only off  aP/B. I usually didn't get any rock crabs, because I'm crabbing out deep in sand/mud. I'll keep a few and try them; I can't imagine anything being better than dunginess. I kept two danielson pots from the sale of my old boat, so I'll be using them. They aren't very light, but they are payed for!!!

Way more work to clean the rock crab. The claws are great. We actually broke them off and cooked them with the dungies. The legs and body of the rock crab went into a pot for stock.

great looking trip guys.  i'd love to try that this year.

Do the reds or rocks have anywhere near the amount of "butter" as dungies?  That seems like a whole lotta body w/o any meat except for the claws.

Def not as much meat and the shells are crazy thick. I think I mentioned I used the bodies to make a stock for clam chowder or cioppino. If you want some stock I can drop some off we got more then we can use.

Thick as in "bust out the dremel tool" thick?  They do kinda resemble a crab version of Sammy The Bull Gravano

LOL, I had to goto three stores to find these on Saturday  :smt005  Work like a charm!  I only kept one Red, but it was as big as a legal dungie!  Had plenty of meat, except one of the big claws actually had very little inside it.  I tossed the rest in with the stock pot like EWB.  But the other claw was quite tasty!!!

Hi Yakers:

Good going Al and the NCKA Tribe! I would try Crabbing but, I need to
wait for .Xmas to see if I still have the Cash for the Crabbing Gear.
Look like the Sardines worked for you Al. What size trap did you catch
most of your Crabs in? Where and how much did you pay for your Crab Gear?
                                                                          Thanks for the Intel.

i found they have similar "butter" to the blue crabs you can find in 99 ranch - so its not bad.  that is actually the part of crab i like to eat the most.  high in cholesterol though i think.  my wife really liked the butter of the red crab.

My wife has been stocking up on those damn crackers for years they seem to be a garage sale staple!

Etienne was given ONE dungie from a PB. That is all I know of. I was offered one but declined. I prefer to catch my own.
