I don't think it's nuts...just hard core locals, rigged for rough surf. I think they are pretty familiar with that launch, and they are strong guys and good watermen.

That being said, I'm not gonna launch my T140 in that.
Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.

Damn good watermen indeed.Even after being pummeled by an overhead wave he was able to turn and side surf the broken wave most of the way in. That was agonizing...I really thought he was going to make it.

Makes me feel better about doing the "sitting duck" side-surf demo for my students in 3-4'surf on a T13. :smt002

That is like fishing at Albion!  There is no way you can get out past those breakers like that 4 seconds apart.  It would be fun, with the yak stripped down to just go for a few wild rides.  Didn't even look like they had PFD's

Uh... yeah but I think you Scotty and Holakai could have given it a good shot.  :smt003 The last 2 waves were surprisingly big which makes me think they either hadnt checked it out long enough or they were just tring to make a good video or were complete idiots.  :smt005
