This is getting insane - check out what Saturday's swell looks like now!

I don't know if I've ever seen swells this high forecast to hit the northern California coast...

 

Am I reading that right? 45 feet?

that may require a trip to the beach for some video. You almost think its a typo or computer model error

No kidding - I don't know if I believe it!

NWS is starting to pump up their forecast too:

(Cape Mendo to Pt. Arena out 10 NM)

.SAT...N WIND 5 TO 10 KT...BECOMING NW 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 3 FT. NW SWELL 23 FT. CHANCE OF RAIN.

i love how the color coding runs through the reds and oranges at about 10-18' and the chart fizzles out at 42' right as they start to recycle the orange...they probably never expect it to get that high!

The midnight crab opener is looking ominous!  

Seriously though - we'll be inside the river mouth, so it's still a go in my eyes.  

This other site (http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/swell/abglance.html) is looking more consistent with NWS than the crazy stormsurf, but it's all NUTS!

I hope this rips the kelp out and we get one more shot at abs.

42 feet swells may affect the handling of some kayaks.
