Folsom 10/30/05 on 7:30am - off around noon.

Folsom wasn't a bust for us today. :smt001
My son and I met up with Travis at the BR ramp around 7:30am. Launched the yaks and trolled up to the pump station on the south fork. Did most of our fishing in that cove just sw of the station.

I could see fish on the ff and I tried everything I had, but didn't catch a thing. My son tried a few options then just decided to toss a small gold kastmaster in the cove. He had a bunch of hits and was able to net one trout.
The kid out fished the old man again. But that's ok, I enjoy watching him catch fish (more than catching them myself). The wind picked up making for a bumpy paddle back to BR.

Travis: It was a pleasure meeting you. Enjoyed our fishing and diving conversation. We look forward to fishing with you again.

Here's a couple pics of a happy young man. Click on the thumbs for a full pic.

Glad to see you guys brought home meat!  I didn't even get a bite but it was a beautiful morning.  Great meeting you guys.  Too bad I had to leave so early.  Hope to fish with you guys again soon.

Thanks Allen...I didn't know that.

A person on the fishsniffer board also said it was a King Salmon.

Congrats Al.  It doesn't get much better than.... a great day day to be out on the Kayak, fishing with your son and you catch fish!

I wonder how the guys did launching from Miller going after Salmon?

Thanks!  You're right...doesn't get much better.

I got a call from Chuck around 2pm. He said they were half way down the drift, a few snags and no fish yet.

Forked tail = salmon.

This one looks "chunkier".  Also, the spots on its back tell me king.

Folsom - IMO - is one of my favorite lakes simply because it has a little bit of everything to offer - as far as fish are concerned  -  Just like Lake Del Valle in Livermore (but, I'm not to crazy about the boats and jet skis during the summer at Folsom) The rock walls/dams located around the lake provides some really good small mouth action! Never tried for catfish, trout or even salmon but I'm looking forward to giving it a shot!

Al - hope we can hook-up soon! Would you also happen to know some of the better camp sites along the lake?
