dave, you and larry should head out there with your bug wands and see whats up.  All I did was topline trolling, no jigging, so they should be willing targets on surface fly.  I trolled a huge broken back bomber looking for Momma Mack, but got no play on that deep diving lure.

Can't wait to do a springtime hookup in this area after thawout.  Its a really beautiful area, lodging nearby, and the fishing's apparently pretty consistent.  I think it might also be a decent destination for altitude open water training, but only in mid summer (brrrrrr).  Racinrob advises that its about to get colder than eskimo weeweedoo, so get out there while you can

"47 Proton Lake" was not my first choice, but he-who-shall-remain-nameless  :smt005 lobbied that we try it before the others.  i think we would have had similar results along that whole 88 corridor, except maybe more traffic at "staples" (:smt005).  This summer, time permitting, i'm gonna spend a few days up there exploring.  gorgeous country and worthy of the drive and effort i think.

If you want company, let me know.  I'll clear the schedule in a heartbeat.  I've never actually fished those lakes but have heard nothing but great things about the scenery.  I hear the fishing is pretty good too. :smt002

cool. did you see any nice pretty colored leaves on the way?  I am trying to convince my wife its worth the drive because of the leaves.  she can leave me and my kayak at the lake, she can take some pics with her parents.

Ok since Martin is giving me a hard time for not posting up yet. I will break the silence.

Beautiful t shirt weather and great company. Michelle's friend nailed a nice mac while trolling with her husband. I will post the pics up tonight.
