headed out late morning as I had a bite to eat with lady before I could leave...In the water fishing for 15 minutes waiting for my buddy to arrive...as he paddled up slam....fish on. we both could tell the way the fish was fighting it was a ling and a nice one at that...after landing the ling my buddy said this is the spot...he drops his line bounces it off the bottom and SLAM...what the hell...is it a seal? He was losing line fast and we both thought cut it...then it stoped...is is caught in the kelp? Slowly he is able to make ground and asked for me to paddle over to help land what ever it was...as I moved the kelp I could see color...WHITE color....it was a beautiful halibut caught on an iron in the middle of a kelp paddie. this was a good day both fish caught in less than one hour...back home for football.

In fifteen minutes???  What a hole you found!  That water looks like a lake.  Not even a ripple.  Must be more south of Monterey.  Thanks for sharing and congratulations your eating good tonight.

I dropped at the inside paddie while I waited for my buddy to paddle out....we never made it to our normal fishing grounds on the outside...maybe these are our new fishing grounds....

You guys are lucky to be able to fish still - it's been a month and a half since it closed up here.  Nice report and fishies.   :smt001
