Nailed a nice 25"/6.5# striper this morning just outside of the Marina.

It was nice morning, no wind, and the tide was perfect for a quick paddle near home, so I headed to the marina with my Hobie Outback.  Right outside of the launch ramp I got quick bite which didn't stick, so I kept pedaling over the small island off to the LH side.  A few minutes later, the little 1/2 ounce hair raiser I was trolling got wacked hard.  It turned out to be bigger than the typical dink schoolie.

It is a lot closer and maybe the bigger fish are that far down the Bay now. Where do you launch? What is the most successful lure there? What do you take with you in terms of lures?

I launched at the free public boat ramp across the street from the golf course and San Leandro Marina Inn.
Here's a map: http://www.sanleandromarinainn.com/area_map.htm

As for striper lures, my favorites are hair raisers and Rapala XRaps.

Nice fish Chuck it looks as though Sean's Pool fish is in jeopardy.

What would you use? How do you rig it? How fast? Do you just troll around the bars and drop-offs out there? I apologize for all the newbie questions, but I have only fly fished for Stripers using lead-core and streamers so far as well as poppers for top water. Caught my fair share up to 10#. But looking to learn conventional tackle so forgive all the newbie questions--I know next to nothing. I have fished O'Neill Forebay a lot, but I really want to try the bay since it is a lot closer to home which means less travel time and more fishing and less gasoline. Will you accept company tomorrow?

Jselli's article will give you a good overview on bay stripers.

I review it and be out there and try it. Got to start somewhere sometime.

it was a very well-written description of the techniques and strategy for fishing the Brisbane Tubes. Some of it Will extrapolate to Oyster Point except there are no tubes but I'll substitute other structure. A lot of good advice. I'll try it.
