Thanx for the report Duane. Way to work off those extra Oktoberfest pounds. Youve almost convinced me to give this Dino thang a try.............

Duane, Way to go.
Hey I need a hookup on one of those rod holders and an anchor system for my yak. Can you help? Anyone!?

crocketeer, i think its best that you post a new thread in the rigging tips board with pictures of your kayak.  that would be the best way to get a specific response.

anchor trolleys can be super easy, or moderately easy.  i just did one last night in about 20 minutes.

I'll try that. I've been looking at some of the setups posted, but I'd like to see some in person before committing.
There's one listed on eBay. Anyone know anything about it?

not necessary.  i did mine last night with 4 rivets, 2 pad eyes, two pulleys from osh, one stainless steel ring, some 3/8 poly rope and electric tape. all in probably less than $10 in materials.

no reason to, just followed the old ones in the forums, but only did a half trolley off the back since i don't plan to go off the front yet.  if i do, i'd rather have two trolleys than one because i don't want to run 32' of rope along the adventure!

wow...i'm way more neanderthal than that one.

One end of a line fixed at stern, that runs up to a quick cleat at my left hip. Anchor has a stainless o-ring on end (above the float). deploy anchor, O-ring thru line, line fixed in cleat.
to release i just pop the line out of the cleat and away i go. (anchor line just slips thru the fixed line)
to retreive, paddle backwards a few strokes and pick up the fixed line as it comes alongside.

remember sturgie fishin in winter is probably the 2nd most dangerous kind of fishing we do-- next to anchoring up in the rivers for steelhead and such.....so be CAREFUL and keep that rigging clean

This is the setup I use and its tits. This is also Totes that is in the anchor section. The trolley system has flaws. Sorry about the jack Duane.

tote's system can definitely work and its super easy to set up.  i just prefer the trolley so it is easier to pick up my anchor if i want to make a small adjustment.  my trolley on the trident works great.

Wow that is a good long day.  Sitting waiting for a hit.  (Maybe we should measure time in beers.)  When I worked (briefly) in construction the job people didn't want was flagging traffic.  First, everyone thinks you're a slacker.  But also, you use the same muscles standing in one place so it can be more tiring than moving around.

I wonder what the most miles anyone here ever put in for a day of fishing.

WTG Duane! I've got to get a closer look at that rod holder next time I see it in person!

Where you using Ghost Shrimp?

Sharky, we ought to try this - it's in our back yard!
