Anyone order from this site: allcrabstuff.com ?

Was looking over their prices, is this the same TR-102 you guys ordered? http://allcrabstuff.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=35  What about the TR-401?  Looks pretty cool!  http://allcrabstuff.com//catalog/popup_image.php?pID=58&osCsid=ekvg71k07rc10rvngbd8v88fi7

i bought mine from them about a yr ago and they did charge a lot for shipping.  i don't remember the exact shipping cost but IMO it is not worth to buy from them if the local shops have tr-102 in stock.

Just bought a Promar 102 with escape rings fo $19.95 at OPS Alameda. The guy there referred to it as the "kayak crab trap".  :smt005 So I guess they know who we are.

Hi Scott,

What is "OPS Alameda"? Do you have a contact # for him/her/them/it?

Thanks,

I'm not Scott, but OPS is Outdoor Pro Shop.  They have one in Oakland and another in Rohnert Park.

i use 2 lead bars on the underside of my danielson pots. it helps keep them right side up and in place in the weather.
i carry 3 pots at a time trapped to the bow of my t-140. i also weight the doors with lead to keep the doors from blowin open too easily.

When you are using pots or traps, hang your bait. You want the bait hanging from the top of the pot or trap to the bottom.
Once you get crabs eating your bait they let little pieces go into the current and also increase the release of the bait smell and crabs come a running. Crabs are very nosiey when they eat and this also attract the crabs, in the form of vibrations in the water. This happens when the crabs crawl up the bait and start eating it. If the crabs can not reach the bait they will not be able to start eating it and the bits of bait and the noise of crabs eating wont happen.

i have dove and watched pots and nets work, hanging the bait from top to bottom makes a huge difference. the reason for the bait tubs is that on a overnight soak the sea lice will eat all the hanging bait. But those tubs are very ineffective.

Chuck doesn't use weights with the Promar 102 because the trap works upsidedown also.

If you look at the picture, it is a wedge shared ramp and it doesnt matter if it is upside down.

but don't the wedge shaped ramps have gates? and if it is upside down, your bait is no longer hanging. The other question is: how can the crabs get in if the pot is washing around in the swell? and how are you gonna find your pot if it isnt where you left it?  i guess it isn't an issue if it is calm out or you watch your pots. but if you want to leave them overnight and the weather changes, it could be an issue.
