Well I got up a 6 am for the drive over the hill and up the coast. Hop in the truck and ehhhh, ehhhhh, ehhhhaaa...Oh crap battery is dead. Now what? I grab the boat battery from the garage that I keep on a charger and the jumper cables. Starts right up. I toss the battery and cables in the back and off I go.

Made it to Pigeon Point a little after 7 am. Winds gusting around 20 mph. The north side looks sloppy, the south side looks doable. There is a crew of 5+ guys walking back up. Several are shaking their heads no and bail. Maybe the car battery was trying to tell me something? Four of us stay and give it a shot. The crew includes myself, bloodbath, Angel (bassbay?) and Jaywo. We help each other down the steps and launch. Before the wind really picks up we decide to take a shot in front of the lighthouse. We all set up and drop them. The combined swell and wind make for a blazing fast drift. I think we must have paddled the same 1/4 mile enough times to make it a 3 mile day. After an hour or so the three others decide to head around the point. I decide to try a few more drifts since I was able to locate a 60-25 foot ridge. Once I had that dialed in I managed a mico ling (about 6 inch). Next drift a 13" blue, Next drift (did I mention how fast the drift was.....) 10" blue. Next drift WHAM!!!! 21" Red! NOW WERE TALKING! I radioed the crew but couldn't talk them into coming back out. At this point I am getting a bit tired. Last drift I manage a 20" ling. Since this may be the last trip of the RF season I kept the blues and red. I headed back in the lee of the point and joined the crew for a few drifts inside for no love. I think bloodbath managed a couple blues as well.

We all headed in around 12:30 and helped one another up the hill....All in all a great day and it was great to hook up with a completely new crew! Angel, we gotta get you a RF before the end of the season.

Below is my stringer. Every fish was caught on a P-Line squid. Bloodbath has more pics hopefully he'll post them up with his report.

Glad everyone made it without any incidence.  It's tough condition out there this week.  Thanks for the report and picture Eric.

Ha Craig the squid was the one you gave me at Albion. It was in the bottom of my plano box! The even chose that over the real chovie and squid I had on the bottom hook!

Not a bad catch at all considering the weather you folks had to deal with. Nice red BTW Eric.

Hey guys,
Bloodbath here! Yup, just like Eric said, windy! We gave it a shot and did manage to catch some fish. It was great to fish with EWB, Jaywo, and bassbay. Don D did not want anything to do with these conditions, and I don't blame him. Keo, bajareefer, and Aaron went their separate ways and did well, as you can tell from their reports. I gotta start bringing the surfboard along too, just like redyak. Enjoy pics.

It was a tough call for me not to paddle out with you guys.Sounds like it was kinda snotty with a fast drift.Glad you were able to stick it out and catch some nice ones.
