Comment 1:  Didn't he kinda blow it when he turned around at 88 meters and pulled himself up with the drop line?!   :smt005  (sarcasm)

Comment 2:  Let's keep it real by just posting human feats on this board...  (denial and jealousy)

Comment 3:  WOW!  (true feelings)

PS:  That spot, "Dean's Blue Hole, Bahamas", is bad-ass!

Thanks Bill for putting that one up. The music coupled with the feat is just so inspiring and incredible.

Bill that was great.  We all need to see that.  I spent six weeks in HI this summer and I met the US champion for underwater breath hold.  She and her mom were training down in the area I fished everyday.  Both of them were pretty good.  Andy

One thing I never saw was the guy equalizing his ears. Amazing stuff.

Some people can equalize their ears w/o touching their nose...

Many of the breath holding record divers are using nose clip so they don't have to use hands.

You can equalize without touching the nose. The clip keeps the water out of the nasal cavity.  He was sipping in a final amout of air before he turned to go down I think.

The technical term would be "hyperventilation".  The brain sends out the signals to "trigger" the urge to breath when the CO2 level in our boby reaches a certain level.  By doing the "hyperventilation" we can lower the CO2 in our body thus "delaying" the urge to breath.  If we over do it then you can get the "shallow water blackout" and drown!
