OAK airport wed 10-14-09

hit the water at 8am paddled out about 1 mile and anchored up, dropped down some
grass shrimp and proceded to hook shark after shark all big leopards + two 7 gills one small one
and one monster that was a good 8 feet long it took allmost 2 hours to get it in   this thing
this must have been over 200 pounds, it towed me from the airport to the rockwall then back.

I got it up to the kayak took one look at the teeth and the mouth that you could have put a basketball in
and cut the line glad I did not have to drag this mother f%$# on the kayak wish I could have took a
pic but it just wasn't happen I need all my gusto just to hold it long enough to cut the line.  

as for the weather it was perfect it was nice to be on the water after so long.  

so if anyone likes to fight big sharks go to the airport and have fun.  
 

Sounds like a great time! Glad to see you made it out there and had a nice ride! I'll have to check out that area sometime when the sturgeon come in.

Thanks for the report and pics Duane. I was hoping you would score a sturgie but it sounds like that long heavy shark fight at least helped work off some of those beers.  jim

I still have an old pair of tennies (leather) that are a little cut up where a 7 gill bit into my foot while I was holding it up by the tail for a pic (pre-digital era). over 5 ft, but skinny only 37#, Anyway, their teeth are like razors,

Sorry no dino, but that's quite a catch!    Just recently someone posted a question about sharks from the yak and the size of 7 gills came up - this (again) answers it: they get BIG and the best way to release 'em is to cut the hook off...

So, I guess you'll be back to the dread Oktoberfest now...?
