Talked to Karen at Hook1 - she can special order the crab traps for $20 each, or $16 each if we buy a case of 12 + tax + shipping.  Anyone interested in joining in on a group buy?  If you are interested send me a PM with the quantity you want.

I do not know the total yet but I would imagine it would be at or below $20 per trap all included.

dont know what is normal but i plan to carry two for now.  i think three is about as much as you want to deal with.  if the crabs are crawling i think 2-3 would be enough.

i got 6 accounted for so far.  another 6 and i can place an order.  after that others can set up their own group buys =)

so much interest...i'm just going to go ahead and bite the bullet and have karen send me two cases.

i'll post up the cost soon.  please try to find a way to arrange pickup in either modesto/livermore/sf area.  we will probably have to work together on this to make sure everyone gets it.  I will also be doing a fishing trip or two in the delta (near antioch) and one more in the ocean (likely hmb or possibly monterey)

Karen said she would call promar today to place the order.  She also noted that she will ask about getting the ones with the rings (i wasn't aware that they had those now since they are not on promar's website)

She will let me know when she has the info and I will post it up here more details when i receive them.

As of now, I think i have committments for all 24 traps.  There is also a tiny waiting list, so it depends on if someone drops out for a few folks (CaptainKayak is top of the waiting list).

After that you guys are on your own  :smt002
i'll front the money and collect it as the time comes.  i'm sure that if you need to drop out i'll be able to find someone else who wants them.

Like I said, Karen will sell them for $19.99 each + tax + shipping if you want to order by yourself.  Just email her through hook1's site.  20% off if you'll take a case of 12.

scott, that's the smaller size, better fit for crawdads.

here's the update i sent out.

If you want a crab trap with the escape ring already installed, it will cost more money.  The traps (TR-102W) retail at $27.99.  With 20% off for the group buy, it will be $22.39 each.

Each case (10 traps) will cost approximately $25.22 each to ship. Approximately $2.53 each for shipping.

So if you want the one with the rings installed, it will cost you $24.92 each + tax.

If you want them without rings, the cost is $15.99 + 2.53 shipping + tax, but then you will need to add your own rings.

Let me know if you still want them, which type, and the quantity you want.  I will try to arrange them so we get it even, but we may need a little wiggle room in case more people want it with the rings and others don't.  By law you need two rings.  I don't know how much it would cost to make your own rings, but it breaks down to about $6.50 extra for the ringed version.

If the ring/no ring issue opens up some room in the order, I'd like to go in for 2 traps with rings.

If all the traps are spoken for, maybe one of us waiting list people can put together another order.  Sounds like there is a lot of interest.

elvis, actually the case size opened up some room, so you're on my list now.

Ben -

Put me on the list for 2. I will pick mine up from Hook 1 on 11/5 in person. If you could let Karen know, that would be great.
