i hear it from my wife when she has to drive my truck aftert a fishing trip. Usally goes something like this... her "you don't smell that!... me " no".. followed by her wiping off the steering wheel and checking the seats.

Caveman here...  Spray it off with the hose and hang it on the fence.  You guys are so foof...   :smt005

I just hose it down, in and out, everytime I use it.  I did however just sunday for the 1st time soak it in wetsuit shampoo.  Now it smells like soapy fish :smt005

I figure every 3 years or so is right?  AbKing, even cavemen can be a bit civilized :smt003

What's actually kinda cool is to have the slimy mark of the foot of a big ab on the chest of the Farmer John - you've gotta scrub that off with your fingernails!   :smt007  (I should probably go clean under my fingernails...   :smt005)

You do what you want to but when I have a big slimy halibut in my lap for awhile it just is real gross smelling after I get home. Fresh fish dont smell like dead fish. :smt044

I've used Mr. Clean, does o.k.. Also bought a gallon of white vinegar and used about a cup in 3 or 4 gallons- that worked pretty good.
Now I'm on to Dial (or generic) antibacterial liquid soap - I bought a big bottle on sale and tried it on musty dish rags, worked well, and so I used some on my bait soft cooler, which I have to store in a shared garage, and it did wonders.
Once you get the smell off, you can worry whether the soap scent will transfer to your terminal gear and scare the fish.
It does help a lot to at least rinse stuff off right after you get home, even if you're too tired to clean it well,  It really gets rank if I leave it for the next morning.

dont leave it overnight people!!  just rinse your kit right when you get home.  Throw it on the lawn hit it with a hose inside and out, wham bam son of sam, move onto other things while it hang dries.

OR take it into the shower with you and just rinse it off in there.  A shower is mandatory after going fishing (unless your at plaskett creek)   :smt005

Reminds me of my brother suiting up and slapping his wet suit hood on the water muttering something about earwigs...oh, the lessons we learn.

Wait...we can wash our wetsuits? I always chose black wetsuits (even when neon-green was all the rage in 1993) due to their ability to mask pee stains. I'll have to ask one of the homies if I smell next time we fish. Because I get fish guts and pee on my wetsuit every week...even on the wknds I don't kayak fish, I'll take out the suit and piss on it for the sake of consistency (and I don't want it to get cold or lonely).
Oh, let me know if anybody needs to borrow a wetsuit. I have 4 of them.
