Launched at the Montezuma Slough Bridge boat launch at 10:30, paddled west and dropped the anchor in 17 feet of water.  Soaked a few anchovies for no bites.  Then, for the next 10-15 minutes there were splashed and tailwhips on the surface all around me.  I randomly brought a lure with me, so I tried to chase down these splashes for some topwater action.

...no action...

So I paddled to the other side of the slough in 20 feet of water, and catch a 16 inch shaker.  Then, I get a BIG takedown.

...missed...

I knew they were there, so I thrown out another whole chove and get the bite I'm waiting for.  This time I was ready.  I set the hook, and after 4 or 5 good runs I have a 29 inch, 8 pound striper on the clip.  Off the water at 2:00.  Other than my 13 pounder on a charter boat, this is my personal best striper... Finally, living 10 minutes from the slough pays off!

Here's 1 pic of the dink, and 3 of the pig

Yeah, I reeled in my line as fast as I could and paddled over there.  Then they were gone, and I had to paddle back to where I was originally... i got a few casts in, but no bites...

and I didn't see any sturgies rolling.  THAT would have been an adrenaline rush!  One time I was fishing off Alameda near the airport and a 10+ pound shark jumped about 50 ft. in front of me....10 seconds later he ate my squid and it was on! that was awesome.

Great Job, I wish I would have the time to get the mother ship up in Monte, but alas no time to fish and had to get her back to Sausalito today before the storms set in.  Should be interesting to see what a nice storm will do to the fishing this early in the season?
