Got a late start, GN and I hit the water close to 8:20.  Paddled like mad to the yellow can and joined the crowd.  Lots of squid, birds, and sealions.  EWB caught a baracuda, one commercial guy boated two seabass, I had one hell of a fish on for a while, and did not have much line left on the spool, and locked the drag and thumbed it.  The fish would lung about ten feet, I would get some line back, then ten or twenty more, get some back, and two big head shacks and......PING. Broke the leader off clean right behind the hooks. Gabe was hammering sanddabs, and small rockies.  We both boogied to the kelp along Cannery Row to try for rockies when the wind picked up after lunch time.  I pulled in four, and one nice 3.5 pound brown or copper (not sure what it was).  Gabe pulled in four, well, five keepers, but the first keeper kinda got away from him and free from under his leg ?????  Caught an octopus along with solfr1 and reelknots. I guess octopus was the hot bite today.  I think the ghosts are gone, Doug caught them all.

It was a good day OTW (but I may have a better outlook considering). Red tide was in fill effect. I was next to the commercial guy and watched him catch his WSB. The 2nd one went on 5 runs and almost spooled him. Just as he hooked up I dropped a whole squid on a double hook rig with a 1.5 ounce egg sinker to about 60 feet (we were in approx 160 ft.) I felt a few nibbles but I had on circle hooks so I just waited for a run. Nothing....So I reeled in to check About 10 feet from the boat I see a flash and a long pointy face staring back. AND IT WAS ON...Three solid long fast runs. I never was in danger of being spooled but it was such a smooth run. Got it boat side. And slipped the gaff in. Pulled it up slipped it on the clip and WOW! I got my first 'cuda! I secretly really wanted to get one. Although I would have been OK with a WSB. I bleed it and kept at it for the rest of the day with no more bites. The cuda measured just under 36"....Gonna have it for dinner tomorrow.

Sorry I had to bail without saying goodbye had to get back over the hill by 4:30 to pick up the little one.

Here are the pics

1. Solfr1 with the commercial guy in the back
2. The commercial guy.
3. BLOOD!!!!!
4 & 5. OHHHHH BARRACUDA!

I had two targets, cuda, and the ghost.  But, had a fantastic day none the less, got my PB RF for MBK, so that was cool.

Hey Eric, did you ask one of those fine fellas under the tree to take your picture?
You know the three drunkard being super obnoxious? :smt044 Nice to finally meet
you Rich and WTG on the fat rockfish. Big congrats to you again Eric on the cuda.

I wonder how the second shift did after we left. Sharky and his friend sorry I am
bad with names. I would rather not guess than giving you a wrong name.

Ha....No those two seemed to be having a great time and I didn't want to be the third wheel. I had one of the MBK guys take the pic. I have another one with the MBK sign in the back that I need to send to Aaron. Maybe they can use it in the shop.

It was good to get out again with another group of high class fun seekers. I only caught 2 ghosts! (I guess I'm the only one that can see them)  :smt044 :smt044
Seriously I had a couple good hits but then .......poof they were gone lol. I did get a few smaller blacks. 2 went back and the one who was DOA was donated to fishmaster1 for the fish n chill at still water today. It was good to meet new faces and re meet a few of the you again. I hope we can all do it again soon!

Great times fishing with the crew. I was stoked to see all of out there at one time, even the PB's on the radio had some chatter about our flotilla of 7 guys or 8 if you count the quiet guy :smt064. By the way I wonder who kept playing the songs on Ch69-very cool and brought a smile to may face. Cheers to EWB, aka "Cudda Slayer" Here are some more Pics to salivate over- gotta love the blood! Let's do it again soon, Keil what's the story on your idea? I need to put some time off requests in.
