Marmite,

What no more pictures  :smt005.

Dam that DFG fellows joke must of freaked you out for a minute and made your mind race to remember the regs (those guys are usually friendly until.....kinda like a building inspector).

Good point about the net I had heard that I always needed to be carrying a net with a min. 18" diameter and did for about a year. Only used it once, typically just measure the fish in the water and try and pull it by hand if its close, guess I better keep carrying it around (inside the hatch might be good enough).

Thanks for the info on the bait, rig, location, and weather should be easy with all that  :smt044. Apparently need a larger reel with lot of line for those fish as well.

Otter called me last night around midnight said he might shoot down (early early) this morning an meet up with Sharky, hope he went and the weather is calm they might be right there, right now.

Nice fish and post,

CONGRATS Doug!!!!

Catching one WSB is a major accomplishment.  Two is a dream come true!

My hand looks a lot like yours -- all torn up for making the mistake of running my hand up the fish's gills.

I also agree with you about using frozen vs. live squid.  I took way too much time trying to jig up live squid.  If I started using frozen squid from the get go, I might have had more than one on the boat too.

When talking to Alex, he underscored exactly how much of a "grasshopper" I am, cuz I threw the WSB heads away and didn't save them for making Sinigan Sa-Sampalok (fish soup).  Felt so bad I even went and checked the garbage bag to see if they were salvageable. (Decided it wasn't really worth getting sick over.)

I heard there is a virus going around in the flesh of the WSB in the northern hemisphere.  My department is in charge of researching the virus and a cure.  DO NOT EAT THE MEAT!  Keep it in the freezer, and I will personally come and begin the chain of custody of your specimens back to a confidential holding and testing area.  I will promise that I will control exposure of others to a bare minimum of the tainted flesh.  This is serious business, but make sure all the steaks and sections are vacuum sealed and frozen before I pick them up.  I also need your garlic salt and any other spices you might have used already on the meat to see if there is any cross contamination.  Any notations you may have for recipes handed down from your mother, I will be needing the original copies too, just to be safe.  The potential is very bad, and if I have seen it once, I have seen it a thousand times, any and all WSB that you catch in the future will be needed for further research.  Clean, butcher, and freeze as usual, then call me to come secure the packages.  Do it for your country man!
P.S. I hope they taste good, they look fabulous!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Marmite, you threw away the best part.  That would have been good also for Sinigang sa Miso.  If you give me some of those steaks I will make some for you. :-)  :-)
