I am a newbie who's been gearing up for my first outing.  I've only done SOME freshwater fishing, and need recommendation on what I need in my saltwater kayak-fishing tackle box.  I'll take recommendations from tackle box to everything in the kitchen sink.  I've seen posts of pictures on this forum of tackle boxes and jigs/lures.  However, I need to know what "basic" jigs/lures I will need for rockfish, lings, striper and halibut.  Please be specific if possible.  thx in advance for the advice.

Lots of options here, but here's a starter:

For rockfish and lings, use small metal lures called Megabaits, or other similar lures. I like them in weights around three to five ounces.

Another great option are swimbaits, using a single tail like the Fishtrap, or Scampi types with twin tails.  Fish these on a two ounce (or close) leadhead.

Both options can be more productive when tipped with a bit of frozen squid.

Finally, a shrimp fly can be rigged above either of these offerings, maybe three feet up the line on a dropper loop.

Good luck

THe SF Bay stripers lures are probably:
rattle traps in blue/silver, all silver
x-raps - black, silver (x-10s)
hairraisers- asorted sizes and colors (white/white, white/chart, chart/white, chart/chart)- go smaller in weight than you think
kastmasters- up to about 2oz
swimbaits

lots of your freshwater bass gear will also work for the linesides

did you see the post on here for making your own lures out of silverware? i made some and they came out great. for my rock fish i use mainly single tail 9'' jigs with 3 oz leadheads, i have had better luck on natural colors, watermelon, black, brown ect.. and don't be afraid to go BIG for lings, they like those big twin tail jigs

For rockfish, irons like mega baits and spoons. I also use scampi's and swimbaits, swimbaits are good all around baits, can be jigged and casted and retreived. Old faithful, shrimp fly rigs tipped with squid are good for schoolie blacks and blues. Just give your bass stuff a try, you might find something that works that you could share with everyone.  Tight Lines!

thank you all for the advice.   :smt001
I will take heed, do additional research, and hopefully have a nice pic to share after my outing.
