Got a last minute invite to hit the Pit and McCloud rivs with a couple of hard core fly fishermen. Had planned on Ft Ross for Wed., but a trip like this doesn't come along too often.  Anyway, had a great time fishing the Pit-all BIG fish; most smaller than the one in the pic below.  That little fatty went for a #16 micro-mayfly.  Missed my yak fishing, but this guy made up for it!  Spooled me before I could head down stream after him!  What a ride!!   Back to the yak next week.

Sweet trout, I've always wanted to give that river a try.

Nice fish. The Pit is a great river because most fly fishers there C&R--you did release them right?

All fish were released.  With this cooling trend on the horizon, the dry fly action should pick up.
