The short report is that we had a nice breakfast at the Old Monterey Cafe.

The longer answer is, wow.  I've only seen Stillwater like this once before.  While the launch would have been challenging, to time, with 3 foot breakers on the beach, the normal path out, directly right, was fully spanned by a series of three breaking waves.  Beautiful!@!@!@! :smt009 ......but not fishable.  From the pier, we could not see if the long way out was open or not because of the fog.

We got to meet new-guy-Ed......heh, dude, out of lurk mode :smt079

Because this was obviously not a proper NW swell, we gave Lover's Point a look.  It was launchable, but the kelp beds were so churned, there was no point, in our opinions.  Clearly not the opinion of the two fellas in the inflatable who did launch (they really looked like two men in a tub..really... :smt005 )  It took them a few attempts but they were never swamped.  They stopped just outside the breakers, just beyond where they surfers were hanging out.  We guessed they were using handlines but couldn't really tell because the misty fog was so heavy.

I hope Thursday is better.
