Here's a bike lift that harbor freight carries, looks like it'd make a dandy kayak lift too.

On sale this week for $6.99

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Be careful!  The specification said: "Weight Capacity: 44 lb" so make sure your kayak weight is not exceed that.

my plan is to use the sucker to get the kayaks on the ceiling, then have additional straps up there to keep it nice and safe.

It's pretty easy to build your own, too. I just used rope and pulleys. It costs more than $6.99, but it holds a lot more weight too. I can drive the car underneath the yak and lower it directly on the roof rack. Actually works out pretty slick.

4 stainless eyebolts and two come along tie downs to the ceiling.

I have that one. It works fine for my WS Pamlico 120, but I would not trust, or be able to lift my T160. I use a "safety" strap under my yak just in case.  I did use every available screw hole to mount to the ceiling. I also did not trust the mounting bracket supplied, so just mounted pulleys to ceiling. Good luck.

I have two of the lifts I use for My wifes and my OK big games,I made a sling from tow straps for each end and hook the lift to that.I also used a piece of plywood across my rafters to screw the pullys to for strengh.they may not be the best on the market but sure beats floor storage
