yeah i drive that road alot, its my main way to the coast, and surfing marmot there are no grace periods any where there it goes from a 55 to a 25 to a 45 in two-three hundered yard area going west into rio nido, i have seen alot of traps out there, they are usually just as you are coming into guenrville park going west in a blind curve with big trees, the chp will be there with the radar gun and the sherriffs will be running after the culprits, i just make sure i am always right at or just under the limit when coming into the populated ares, cameron

Yup... I drive that stretch everyday, twice a day. You just have to watch the signs and drive accordingly. The cops are out there ALL the time because it's easy pickin's. The other one to watch out for is heading into  Forestville from Sebastopol just before you hit the school. Steep down hill that goes from 45 to 35 to 25 quick. CHP will be at the bottom, out of their cars, with portable radar gun. I have even seen them hiding behind telephone poles.

Zinful1, Didn't feel good about bustin' your chops. Something about what you said just struck a nerve is all.

When I was a kid I had a '52 Chevy truck that fit your "ill-equipped and maintained vehicles" description to a T. One tail light, one headlight, brakes that could use some work,no windshield wipers; the classic death-trap.

One evening I was pulled over by the CHP out by Stafford Lake for the tail light. The cop wanted to do a safety check on the rig and I could see the violations piling up. When he got to "honk the horn" I stuck my head out the window and yelled "GET OUT OF THE WAY IDIOT". He looked at me, started laughing and told me to get out of here.

That was probably, by definition, special treatment but it was a long time ago too.

I sold the truck "as is" that week.

Dammmn...impounded vehicle for speeding? That is crazy. Oh wait, did you have your fishing license?  :smt002
I got cited for speeding near Laytonville on the way home from Gimme Shelter 3. Total speedtrap on a downhill section of southbound 101. But the officer was very professional. And I was respectful.

Bummer Ed, sorry to hear that!!!! I don't know if this is true, but I realized that all my ticket violation ( even though I know that I am not breaking the law ) is dated either before middle of the month or closed to the end of the month. What's up with that?  :smt003

Thanks for the heads up Ed, I am heading that area tomorrow towards Fort Ross.

You could not be more wrong, I go out of my way to show respect to police officers, and do not apologize for your lack of education, I never went to college and seem to get by just fine!   :smt002  Also, if you know where to get an S550 Mercedes for $40,000 please forward the link to me, I got ripped off!  Must have been my smugness, the salesmen hate that!  Please clarify that you are cooking crack there, as I thought that was for hoity toity people from compton, and that lake county folks prefer meth?  who needs a dentist when you don't have any teeth, the savings on that alone must help pay for a nice car?

My personal cars are an 06 Mustang GT convertible and an 07 Shelby GT 500, but I also have a fleet of cars for my tour business here in Napa that I can use.  The 06 convertible only has 12K on it and I don't use it much so may sell it soon in case anybody is looking for a nice GT convertible (this ought to get this kicked to another board!)

There was a guy that I x-rayed a lot when I lived and worked in Santa Rosa. He lived in Lake Co. and was always needing excuses for not appearing in court. Had a little meth problem it seems.

I asked him why there were so many tweekers in that county. He said most of them were from Sonoma Co. and when they got busted there the judge told them to get out of Dodge. I guess Lake Co. is the next stop.

my understanding is that when they are released from prison they are given a small amount of money and a one way ride to Lake County because of cheaper housing etc.  I believe it is the Australia of California!

I talked to the local CHP about a month ago.  He said there is now only 1 CHP officer (him) in all of West County from Gualala down to Bodega and east to Sebastopol.  He said he spends most of his time on either 116 between Guerneville and the coast or on 1 between Jenner and Bodega.
