Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Far from an electronics expert, but one thing that may be a concern is overheating? I've heard that some dive lights(non LED) have issues with overheating if left on too long by accident. Don't know if this is an issue or safety concern in this situation but just thought I'd throw that out there.

Very cool.

I don't know about dive lights overheating - but the dry cells do off-gas as they discharge and in the sealed compartment of the divelight - if left on they can go whammo! I left one on in the garage once - came back a couple days later and the whole bulb end was across the garage and there was a big crack in the ABS (or whatever) of the housing end. This thing must have ripped an explosion - that housing was solid. Note the "was".

Too cool,

I'm going to radio shack tomorrow to get the stuff and see if it works.

Thanks for the post.

Unless of course I end up setting something on fire.

Oh hell yes.

Where does he come up with $4 for three Duracell 123 camera batteries?   Those are at least $6 each.

The batteries would last as long as a virgin on prom night.

The batteries are 1550 mah, and the KPR112 bulb takes 650 ma at 6 volts, which is 975 ma at 9 volts (from three 3v batteries in series).  This is about 1.5 hours to completely drain the batteries.  Given the bulb is being overvolted, the battery discharge curve will initially be very fast and I'd guess the light would be starting to dim significantly after about 30 minutes.  Overvolting the bulb also decreases bulb life significantly.
