Fair enough. I am still uneasy with the overly commercial meat-any-way-we-can-get-it-and-all-we-can approach at FS, but maybe it will work out.

Word.  Its a knuckle-dragger stronghold.

For many years i was a productive member of the Fish Sniffer. its since gone down hill, no sense of community like there is here. I rarely visit it now

The trout boards were great!

But, what i see now on the Saltwater board is disgusting, they continually allow commercial guys to post over and over and over again. There's a spot for "pros" Why not use it. I got so tired of hearing of the commercial hauls of hundreds of fish picked from the sea in one fishing trip. Basically it was a form of free advertising for the commercial guys and in my opinion it ruined the saltwater board, it killed the "community feeling" NCKA has.

And yeah, I agree, the new front page at the Sniffer is a bummer. I liked the old layout with minimal ads and direct links to great stories.

I found my favorite site. Its NCKA. You guys have done a wonderful job with this site, and Ive met some really cool guys from here as well, thanks for the experience.

+1 for kayak fishing, this is it.  I totally agree.

yeah, for sure!

Man, i will say i used to love the sniffer, the trout boards were top notch... And Wizzas canoe trout fishing adventure stories! GREAT!

i sure hope they can restore some of that greatness in those sections, and loose some of those ads.

The "uniqueness" of this site and what it is should be preserved. Thats why most have joined up, there will be growing pains but hopefully we can keep it together......

hmmm........I don't consider myself a knuckle-dragger.  I visit the Fishsniffer and the Imhooked sites as well as this one.  I am interested in fishing from a yak, or boat, or from the shore, or whatever.  I have two Hobies and a Gregor aluminum boat.  I am not brave enough to venture in the salt yet but I do fish the Sierra freshwater lakes frequently.  I will fish for meat sometimes but mostly my trips are to enjoy nature and get on the water, plus any day fishing is better than working!
Fishing is cheaper than therapy!

I have to speak up for Sean here--he did not mean _all_ visitors of the site. If I stop into to a bike bar am I then a biker? Of course not. He was referring, as I was, to the attitude of the site--meat, meat, and more meat. No evidence of conservation ethic , no concerns about our impact on the fisheries, no evidence of C&R--no balance. It all about advertising commercial harvesting for personal monetary gain with little concern for the fishery other than "the catch was great see look at the carnage or it sucked boo hoo". We are talking about the overall character and design of the site--I am sure some ethical and conservation-minded fishers frequent there.

Sure I go there--for instance to check on Lake del Valle to hear if the lake has turned over so I don't have to dredge by the dam for fish but can find Stripers out and about and busing bait in the shallows in the upper lake--good times for fly fishing. But, in my opinion, it is sites like that that focus only an the desire to harvest rather than sow that fuel the outrage we see culminating in the MLPA actions. I think we offer a more sustainable green approach to fishing and I am proud of this community for that.
