Got on the water about 0730 and wind was blowing from NW. Did a few drifts as the wind picked-up and thought I would bail, then the wind just died and it was calm for most of the day.  West wind picked-up about 1500, off the water by 1600 as it really started to blow.  Lots of sailboats on the bay, only saw 10-12 PBs  fishing in the area on and off throughout the day. Didn't mark much bait this time - still a few dolphins, several furbags, and a few terns and pelicans working the area.  Two soft bites - one short, and one 26" halibut on shiners. Drifted a 10" smelt for a few hours but no luck. Really nice day.

John you are turning into the paradise master. Every time you go there you pick one up. Looks flat and calm in the pic. See you next weekend. Pray for calm. :smt006

Awesome John. I am going there tomorrow to try my luck. Perhaps that big halibut is
still waiting for me. Hopefully the weather wouldn't be too bad for me. Congrats on the
halibut. You have that place dialed in bro. BTW, where did you get your shiner this time?

Jed - got the shiners this morning at Loch Lomond, they were live and kicking, lasted well.  Good luck with the big one.

Hey Beluga - I use this one, but there are several similar models - tie off and leave floating while drifting.  Can use an ice chest, plastic bucket or other large container to transfer from bait shop to launch if necessary - aerator or circulating pump can help too, depending on how long the drive.

i am green with envy..still alluded by halibut..I lost count but I think I am 0/6..
got a new ride though..just need a cart so  I can go on weekend..for now may wait for weekday and drive down to launch.

how is this place for making ones own bait? I tried from pier w/ sabiki back in july with no love.

any luck drifting dead anchovies??? or do the butts demand live bait?
maybe I can try richmond marina before crossing bridge to avoid detouring to san rafael.

Dave- live bait is best but you can get them on dead anchovies, shiners, smelt and others. I haven't tried making bait at Paradise, others have and might be able to help you out, did catch a 10" smelt yesterday when I had a bare hook hanging over the side.  Good luck.
