If you recall, Otobepelagic won one of my custom rods for his AOTY prize last year.  Well... I finally got around to building it for him and was pleased to make the hand-off today.  Lookout Patrick... pops has a new weapon!  Kinda reminds me of that Darth Vader / Luke Skywalker thing...  Anyhoo... here's a few quick pics.

Ingredients:
-Rainshadow SWS696 graphite/glass composite blank trimmed back to 7'4", rated for 20-40#.
-Fuji Titanium framed SiC guides acid wrapped.
-EVA grips with X-shrink tube over the top.  Extended foregrip for floatation (be sure to test it with your reel first Allen).
-A whole bunch of good fish mojo  :smt002

The more I learn about building rods for myself, the more I understand how good Erik really is. Amazing work!

Erik modified a Loomis halibut rod for me and I can speak for the quality work he does.
The rod he made for Otobe is sure to enhance the fishing skills. Nice work.....again Erik!
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!

That's an "acid" or spiral wrap. It transitions the line to the bottom of a bait casting rod like a spinning rod.
It eliminates the torque and rod twisting that a big fish will put on the rod. Works well and I have four of those type rods now.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!
