No guts, no glory.

No one on this board deserved a fish that big as you.  Proof that if you put your time in, day in day out, and you will get rewarded.

BTW, that area scares the crap out of me.  Not because of sharks, but because it can get nasty FAST.  The few times we went by boat, I HATED go under the GG.  Tide Weather=Dirty shorts.

Congrats.  Lets see the pict!!!!

Stuart

I've done the buoy in my kayak a few times and in a boat a few times. The boat is scarier, because you have to go back through the gate and that can turn nasty while Dux is calm.

I prefer to launch at Bolinas because it is a short carry and an easy launch. The reef protects the bay most of the time from bad stuff.

As for the weather turning nasty, you can pretty much eliminate that possibility by checking out the weather online or NOAA a day in advance.

The worst changes I've seen are Muir Beach. You can launch at 3pm into a friendly ocean and come back 2 hours later and the tide has changed and the wind has risen and you look at the break and just know your going to get the five foot high view of the  beach as your kayak cartwheels in front of a wave.

Is Alan Tani claiming he's paddling a kayak now?

Paul,

Alan does have a kayak (a blue Ocean Kayak Caper). It's just hanging on his garage - he's claimed that he's used it before but there seems to be no proof  :smt003

BEAUTIFUL fish. Man, a fish like that could supply enough Adrenaline to power the entire city for weeks.

Congrats.

Im constantly reliving my most memorable fishing moments. If you can visualize everything going right in your head, then your more likely not to muck it up. Its all about being ready. Think about what it wouldve been like if you lost it.

I lost a HUGE 60 plus pound WSB this summer and have been haunted by that ever since.

that really hurts :smt011

But at least you were able to identify it. :smt002  I've had a sleigh ride this year at Linda Mar but never got to see what I hooked into  :smt013 I've also witnessed john/jdyak battle a fish for nearly an hour - last year also at linda Mar. He lost it when the fish was on it's way up the yak. I was right next to him the whole time and I had my net ready. We never saw it and to this day....we wonder :smt017

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, always the 1st night after some good fishing like this I sleep like a baby, then the next night I'm waking myself up all night setting the hook on a big fish But either that's what it's all about or I should see a shrink, I like to think it's the former rather than the latter.

I know the feeling... I get that way during sturgeon season.  Sitting around cooped up during the dark and rainy winter months gets the mind going about setting the hood into a big dino and getting that awesome sleighride.  Keith Fraser calls it Sturgeon Fever.  Then after you score big, you re-live it for a couple weeks...

I think it to be more of a therapy than an illness though.  A shrink would only wish that he could have those kind of dreams and thoughts.  That's definitely what it's all about.

Hmm:

I believe Team Bodega has one the last two tourney's :smt016 .  Pardon my including you in Team Bodega; Rockhopper :smt006 .  bsteves took the pot at Elk and Rockhopper had Mendo. :smt005   I think I see a pattern beginning for form!  :smt002  Next tourney should be Norcal vs. Centralcal :smt065 .

Duxbury is one dangerous place.  congrats on that huge salmon! :smt003

I suggest we hit the Fort Ross-to-Ocean Cove area again in a couple weeks if weather permits.  I live just outside Bodega Bay, and if anyone needs a place to crash I have lots of room.

Hey - I AM Bodega Bay...lol!  :smt003

I definitely need to get back out before the season ends, hopefully we can get another good crowd out there.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
