Ben, are you bringing the Adventure?  If Martin shows up, maybe we can have that 3-way race you proposed.

Michael

yes it's coming.  turbo fins and sailing rudder will be on it by then though =)

can also bring another kayak if anyone needs to borrow one, either a hobie sport or the trident.

Doh!  Looks like I'll need to head down to the garage and put on my turbos. :smt044

Out of curiosity, have you pimped it yet or will you be fishing blind?

going for a test run today and my accessories arrive tomorrow.

will have two forward ram mounts for rod holders.

i am using a temporary fish finder set up (transducer in a plastic bag) until I decide where to mount the transducer.  the FF for this guy will be shared with the sport.

am going to mount a downrigger but need to find a piece of plastic/acrylic to accommodate proper mounting in the rear since i can't figure any other flat place within reach.

What kind of FF did you end up going with?

will have two forward ram mounts for rod holders.

If I could do it over again, that would be the only thing I'd change - I would have gone with 2 RAMs and not 1 RAM and 1 Scotty.  The good news is that I can always use a RAM adapter on the Scotty.

Where will you place the main unit for just the day.  How will you secure it?

I mounted my DR on the flat surface up front, but I'll admit, it is a stretch, even for me at 6'.  Look forward to seeing where you place yours.

I know that you've seen my yak before, but feel free to give my rig the once over for ideas (or things you don't want to do  :smt002) while we are at the event.  You can even pedal it to see if you like things in certain locations.

*end of threadjack - maybe  :smt003

michael i got a nice mount made by stormscrambler that fits in the mast hole (sounds dirty!) so that's where the ff will be.  i can easily move it from the sport to the adventure and back.

i think i will just goop down a foam block with a trans cut out and fill it with water for trips.  that will make it semi-permanent.

the kayak went ok, not as fast as I expected and my seat was out of whack which made it annoying.  the two forward ram mounts should work fine.  the FF i'll be using is the eagle fisheasy 245ds

the downrigger will be mounted the same way that Zee had his old laketroller mounted. acrylic plate across the back where the two screws are that would normally be for the amas.  need to get over to tap plastics to get it or find another way locally.

This far we have 16 signed up for Bass Lake.
There are more than that many prizes to give away so make sure to post up if you are planning to attend on Sept. 20th.

I will be at Ocean Kayak's for the most of next week so if i don't get the Roll Call updated in the middle of the week you'll know why.

See you at Bass Lake,
Eric

Too bad about such low numbers but it probably has something to do with the HMB event the day before.  I bet it if you made attendance necessary to win the kayak, you'd have a larger turnout.  Hey, maybe I'm on to something here. :smt003

Michael,
Good Idea  :smt005, but it would be unfair to change the rules at the end of the game.

As for next year, I have a few ideas that might be intresting and really help boost attendance ( I'll post more info in a later post).

Yeah, I know.  It was mostly said in jest.

Ben, is this offer still available?  I'm bringing a rook who will be using my Outback but know of somebody else that might be interested.  Let me know.

:sleepy3: :sleepy3: :sleepy3: :sleepy3: I am in on this one 100% I have been meaning to meet you Eric for a very long time

Wow Darius, you're doing both events?  You lucky dog!  That is quite a drive from HMB to Bass Lake - probably looking at close to a 6 hr drive.  Hope you do it Sat. while it's still light.

And Ernie is doing both events too.  Maybe you 2 should carpool to keep each other awake during that drive.

What about an extra ticket put in the raffle for winning an event?  :smt044

As for suggestions on locations, I like the central valley events but it seems as though they don't generate the turnout, which I can understand.

What about a 2-day event?
