I have my flush mounts installed behind my seat.. so now working on installing the front pole holder.    What I'm running up against is where to mount it vs. the fish finder (when I get one..).    For reference.. here is a link to a Manta ray with the same holder installed, and Im thinking about the same spot.    From what Ive seen here, the FF should install right in front of that but Im wondering if it will get in the way of the pole.. and also, I have long legs and big feet and Im a bit worried about shearing off anything thats not mounted behind the foot pegs.

Any ideas on how to handle the front rod holder and FF placement on a boat like this?

Hi  I've also have a Manta Ray and mounted flush holders behind the seat (angled back slightly).  I mounted my fish finder on the center between my legs on the anlged section.  I put my Scotty rod holder just forward of the fish finder on the flat section.  I also used a holder extension (8") to raise my rod as the butt was hitting my legs when angled out to the side (I'm 6' 4" tall).  When I mounted the holder I put a wedge made from a piece of 2x4 so that the holder was angled closer to me.  With it straight up it was just a little too far away.  With the wedge it is now just a slight forward lean away (I just have to reach about 6 -8").  This also puts it above my paddle stroke when angled out to the side and slightly forward and slightly upwards.

Excuse the deck clutter, but you can see what I did on my MR.

With a rod fully seated in the holder it just clears the top of the FF when swiveling from one side to the other.

you should consider a RAM mounted fishfinder and rod holder - that will help you with any adjustments you need.

or if you are set with the scotty's, look into the adjustable holders.  they will have more reach for you.

if i were you, i'd take your fishfinder head and your rod holder and just sit down on top of your kayak with those duct taped into place and see how it works for you.

If you skip the ff you won't have that problem

Thanks for the replies!   ericb, that fish finder looks perfect for the spot you have it.. eagle cuda?   That may be where I install when I get one.  nice ling btw!

This is actually kind of where I am leaning for the time being..  there are a few things I need to get before a FF (vhf and either a wetsuit or kokotat tempest pants top the list).   I  didnt want to mess up and place the pole holder where it will get in the way of a FF when the time comes though.   I am thinking about just putting the holder about an inch past where I have the foot pegs as the reach doesnt seem too bad.
