Kayak trailer

My father in law is a very handy guy. Likes to plan projects, weld and create things. I turned my old trailer over to him, told him that he could do whatever he thought would work best.

He did a great job on my old, cheap  trailer.

The old ones are wood 2x4 with pool noodles taped on. Very basic.

hmmm... the garage looks kind of messy in that picture.

Cool. I love my trailer.  Super handy and EZ to load.

Sean, where did you get your trailer... or did you build it?

He built it because I remember it was just finished for the davenport derby.

I like the way Sean rigged the locking mechanism for the straps.  You don't need to the remove the straps completely, just loosen.  Very cool.

Golden Arrow  has an amazing memory!  I built it from scratch, since the only trailers I could find were either real heavy or the shipping made them cost too much.  It has been a real workhorse, and it makes moving and storing yaks a breeze.

I got my tie-downs from macs custom tie downs, a carryover from my car guy days.  They are expensive, but worth every cent.
