Fishing was good fun at the lake this past weekend.  The algea was definately present.

On Friday I started fishing in the late afternoon from our dock.  I was tossing a norman lavander shad crank bait.  The first bite was a big one, he took the lure like he had not ate in days.  He was a fighter and felt big on my line, he finally swam under the dock and wrapped my line around one of the dock poles and was gone.  I was bummed.  The second bite I had was also on the same lure, but was not as hard, he was fighter as well and when I finally got him to the dock I started pull him to the net, the next thing I know my swivel broke and I watched him swim away with my lure.  I was bummed that lure was good luck and caught many fish.  Hopefully someone will catch the fish and put the lure to use.   Anyway, changed to a new crank bait and what do you know the third time was charm, got him on the dock and in my hands. He was a little guy, but still it was a catch.

On saturday I fished from my kayak in the afternoon drifting a watermelon candy senko rigged wackey with no weight.  I was drifting for a while and then came the hit.  He was fighter and did not want to be caught.  I finally got him in the yak, made sure the camera was pointed at me for the pic and let him go.

All in all it was good time fishing.  Can't wait to get back to the lake over Labor day.

Pic 1 is the Friday catch.
Pic 2 is the Saterday catch.

Sounds like a great time OTW!  Thank you for the report and pictures.

Way to go on the fish. That's a nice place to fish with some huge hogs lurking around. It's a little frustrating  :smt013 watching your favorite lure swim away but it beats snagging it on the bottom.  :smt003
