Thanks for the report Eric. I can feel it in the weather that it's getting to be that time again... river time.
You ever eat salmon raw? My usual routine is to eat while I fillet. Man, good stuff no matter how you cut it!

I ate a little raw, Juan, but I don't know my raw fish rules, so I didn't go overboard.  I prefer it cooked, but I'd like to know how to prepare it raw because it was in nice shape, and there are so many sweet little trimmings to use while fileting that are no good for anything later because they're too small...

Regarding the fishery, remember that I did put in two long days up on the Klamath last fall with NCKA groups with only a couple of strikes/head shakes to show for it.  It takes many many hours and/or lucky timing to entice a bite from river kings.  My number came up and I'm just glad my barbless hook was deep into that special black jaw.   :smt007

It was the large copper Little Cleo with a 1.5 oz. banana about 3' upline.  I checked it often for weed, and, I admit wholeheartedly, it would've been much more difficult without a fishfinder.  (yes, I love my F%^#$ing fishfinder!   :smt012      :smt001)

Wow great job of sharing a great road trip!  Scary about the pram being flipped near the surf too.  Awesome job grabbing the salmonoid in the midst of the boaters.  Which lure took it?

Eric, all those little trimmings that are too small to cook up are perfect to collect in a little bowl and to eat then, and as much as 3 days later. Just wonderful with the wasabi and soy sauce. I pig out like a seal!
It seems so perfect to make a trip up there, and stay a couple of days, and to be nourished all the while by the fruits of one's efforts. That, and quality adult beverages!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I was on the trinity last weekend. What did you hook it on, the chovy or the lure? I've fished the mouth before from the bank - schools of salmon steaming by - amazing, I'll never froget it. You're stoked.
