I have installed a fishfinder and now am looking for the best power supply options.  There is always the single 12VDC battery, but I have also heard that 8 AA rechargeable batteries works well.  AA rechargeables are 1.2 Volts each, so that makes 9.6 Volts.  Is this voltage reliable enough? or should i consider 10 AA's for a total of 12 Volts?  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

I would go with 10 batteries for the rechargable.  Regular batteries is 1.5V so you only need 8.

There is a ton of info on the board use the search feature.

Which fishfinder are you using? The power draw spec. is the main factor in determining how much battery you need. The AA packs will run smaller units, larger or color units are power hogs and need more juice.

I am using the Humminbird PiranhaMax 190C.  It's color, so it's probably one of those powerhogs.  thanks for the info!
