I live in Santa Cruz, but fish most of the bay.  I'd like to do a lot more spearfishing, but can't stand to dive alone.  My girlfriend will dive Monterey, but hates the Santa Cruz visibility.  If anyone's ever looking for a dive partner, my schedule's pretty flexible.  Any Santa Cruz spots I should be checking out?  Also, how bad is the surge at natural bridges?

Natural Bridges is a no take zone. Try the lighthouse. If you're local you can easily pick your good viz days to dive. Look up your local diveclub 'kelpstalkers' I believe.

Natural Bridges is a no take zone.

Do you have a link to that info.  Seriously, I've never heard that, but would not be surprised.

Best bet for consistent fish is Monterey.

I can't find the no take zone anywhere.  Any idea how far it reaches?  Or where to find a map of it?  Thanks.

I was just looking for some hunting spots around the bay, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with coral street?  If there's anywhere else I should check out, please let me know.

Pretty sure the Central Coast MLPA shut down the shoreline out to like 300 feet or something like that at NB.  I would avoid a shore dive there.

Hi Yakers:

I was stopped by DFG just East of NB. Good thing they just wanted
to check out my Rigging. I did a "ODD JOB" hat toss so the DFG Warden could see my License attached to my Hat. :smt005
The Game Warden wasted one Hr. of my fishing time and, the Wind
picked up shortly after. When the NW Wind came in, I just gave up and rode the Wind back to the West Harber. :smt013

Hey Amadeo, It's off limits according to DFG.

Thanks for the help.  I had no idea about the no take zone.  You probably saved me a big ticket and losing my gear.  I'll be sure to post when I head to Monterey.  Hopefully this week.  I guess I'll hit coral street and stillwater, and just see how it goes.

Thank you.  Like I said I am not surprised.  It makes sense as PISCO and long marine lab have lot's of survey equipment out there.
