I went up to Wrights lake in the sierras for my annual family camping trip. The first time my Dad took me there I was 6mos old. I'll be 56 in Nov. We have seen a lot of changes over the years but what never changes is the view, the streams at high altitude, and the fun we have as a family. Myself and my nephew hiked 4 miles of one stream on Saturday and 2 miles of another stream on Sunday. The water is extremely low this year due to a very small snowpack. The streams are running almost 2 feet less than they would normally. I like to catch dragonfly nymphs from the lake and drift them into holes along the way but there wasnt enough water to do this so I didnt even bother catching live bait. We used small black roostertails 1/16 oz. I love this place and it always feels like seeing an old friend. Here are some pics. I started making rock art last year and continue to have a real blast creating on the water after kayaking to the point.

Rock art and stream shots. Can you see the "dogs head" in the background of the 1st pic?

Nice lake, beautiful fish, and interesting rock art.  Thanks for sharing the report and pictures Craig.

The big female dragonfly was stuck in the side of the stream and her wings got wet. She took about 2 minutes to dry out and then flew off. Plenty of time for an awesome photo shoot.

Beauty! I haven't fished the High Sierra in more than a year now. Your pictures are really making me miss it!

Beautiful gem of a fish there, and the other pics are great, too.  I could feel the tension melting away looking at them.
