It was back to work today after a great vacation with my family.  As has become a rule in my life in general, NCKA was a big part of the Good Times in my adventures away from home.  I'm too busy and burnt to make any movies or post up the fish for now, but I wanted to get on here and share a few thoughts...

With tonight's MLPA developments and the passion exhibited by those embroiled in that process, personal messages of grief and the condolences sent for JeeperTroy, and all the rest of the heart-felt communication going on here I want to spotlight something that brings tears to my eyes.  We're a family here.  We've got all different kinds of characters.  We don't all agree, and we don't all express ourselves in the same ways, but we have a common thread of humanity, respect, appreciation and Love.  This is nothing to take lightly.  This is real life at it's very best.

Thank you, everyone, for being open on your own level to the special correspondence that we're so lucky to share here.   :smt001

I so felt this last weekend. I've been charged up since, and I really needed it too.
I felt none of the pressure to hook fish, yet I still did get a few, and those moments (especially the "what could it be?" moments when the fish were peeling line-those are extra special) stayed with me (I still got a charge from them!) Mostly, I was stoked to be fishing with friends that are as "into it" as I am.

Being part of the CPR team for Adam's beastlingzilla capture & release was just amazing. I haven't felt like that since I was a kid & watched huge bat rays fly out into deep water early in the morning. It gives one the feeling that anything could be down there, and that we haven't yet seen & experienced  half of what the sea has to share with us.
The post fish hangout on the bluff, looking out over the sea, so much fun you guys.

The dreaded closures are sobering and disheartening, but I feel that we will still survive to fish. We'll just need to use our motivation to overcome these restrictions and find ways to still do what we do. At this point in my life, I consider myself a small craft fisherman who works in an office in my off-water time. I have no choice but to paddle out, as I simply have to.

Thank you my NCKA brothers & sisters.

I was just thinking yesterday about how society in general does not look out for one another, get to know their neighbor, etc...

How privileged I feel to be part of NCKA Brother/Sisterhood that stand in the face of the above sad (but all too often, true) reality. I can't imagine a situation whereby any of us 'bloggers' here on NCKA would leave another feeling so desperate for lack of caring as was the case with the poor soul in Pittsburgh earlier in the week.

Be well and fish on!
